History of hill of grace stud
Located at Lysterfield in the famous Yarra Valley region of Victoria, we are modern innovative farm breeding the best possible pure breed South Devon cattle.
The property was selected in early 2001 for its undulating land and its plentiful water supply running through the cascading dams and streams through out the year.
The land itself is spotted at the hill tops with nature granite, which form a filter for good water supply to the dams and streams below, with excellent fertile soil due to the granite sub structure. With this basis, careful selection of quality bloodlines were chosen from a cross section of many existing studs through out Australia.
Our key objectives were;
- Quiet and docile cattle.
- Easy to handle cattle in the yard or out in the paddock.
- Good genetics for sound structure and rapid growth rates.
- Superior mothers with great milk and butterfat content.
- Low birth weights for easy calving.
All of the above returning sound profits to the commercial or stud breeder. Those that do not meet our criteria are culled and sold to market.
